YourDirectorAI is quite easy to use, but it is really important to read this guide to be able to use all the power of the software, also you can enable the help button located at the top right of the software, then just put your mouse over the UI elements to learn more.
After downloading the software, just unpack the zip and install the software.
The installer leaves 2 icons on your desktop, YourDirectorAI software and the License Manager, ignore for now the license manager and continue.
Before starting to use the software, let’s take a look at how the software works and some basic setup diagrams. There are many ways to track the video source, you should use what works better in your setup. Let’s see different ways to do it, all the examples show a multi-cam setup with 3 cameras, where one of that cameras is the camera used as a source for tracking, and also used by your video/streaming software.
Inside the software, using the help button you can enable tooltips, once is enabled, just put your mouse over any object on the user interface to learn more.
1- Using NDI:
Network Device Interface (NDI) is a royalty-free software specification developed by NewTek company to enable video-compatible products to communicate, deliver, and receive high-definition video over a computer network in a high-quality, low-latency manner that is frame accurate.
Using NDI allows you to reuse video sources for the stream/record process at the same time YourDirectorAI tracks that video source.
Advantage: frame accurate, video source not affected in any way. SD, HD, and 4k resolutions are supported. YourDirectorAI can run on a separate machine if needed and video arrives through the network, YourDirectorAI control other software through network protocols, and others.
Disadvantage: NDI can be CPU ad network demanding under some situations.
2- Using YourDirectorAI, virtual camera:
This method uses a virtual camera provided by YourDirectorAI, in that way video capture device is split into a video tracker and video also goes out through a virtual cam, to stream or record software like OBS or others.
Advantage: lower resource usage compared with NDI.
Disadvantage: limited to 1080p, depending on your hardware and video device, you might see frame drops on your device.
3- Using a stand-alone webcam as a source for tracking:
In this method, a webcam can be used as a tracker video source, this method is suggested as the best method if you work with multiple DSLR cameras and 4k inputs combined with devices like the new multi-input el Gato CamLink PRO https://www.elgato.com/es/cam-link-pro or any other device you prefer.
Multi-4k sources result in very intensive resource usage, this method just adds ultra-low overhead to your setup.
Advantage: the lowest resource usage possible.
Disadvantage: needs a dedicated webcam, anyway, a cheap C920 can do the job and is the suggested camera.
Before running YourDirectorAI, it is highly suggested to install the first OBS Websockets and OBS NDI, this guide is for OBS version 28.X or newer.
Download OBS Websockets Compat 4.9.1
If OBS Websockets is correctly installed you will see OBS Websocket available as this:
Open Websocket Server Settings and select Enable WebSocket server checkbox.
If it is installed correctly you will see NDI in the top menu and NDI as a filter. NDI as a Filter is what we use, just add a filter on the Video Capture Source you want as a tracker source for YourDirectorAI , remember there should be a scene with you framed at the center.
Right-click on Video Capture Source, then select Filters.
Right-click on Effect Filters and select Dedicated NDI output.
Now after adding NDI out, customize the name, something OBS or any name you want. After setup, the name closes and opens again OBS in order the change by applying to the NDI stream on the network.
Before running YourDirectorAI, it is highly suggested to install the first OBS Websockets and OBS NDI, this guide is for OBS version 27.X

In order to activate the software license on your computer, after completing your free order, just open the License Manager, and enter your user and password. Remember you have created your user and password when you completed your order.

The same user and pass to activate the software, is also the same user and password for the support forum.

The tracking camera lens not should be eye fish, any deformation on the video image can reduce accuracy.

All images taken by your camera or cameras shall be processed solely on your device and shall not be sent to our servers. i.e. we do not have access to such images, we will not collect, share or store them.
